I COME FROM A Family of infamy

My grandfather was “Big Bill” Schofield, the sole owner of a family flower shop until the 1920s when he took on an infamous not-so-silent-partner.

Al Capone’s competitor and head of the North Side Chicago Gang, Dion O’Banion had an office above the flower shop and a flair for flower arrangement. He was putting one together when he was shot dead trimming chrysanthemums, found still holding the scissors. Five years and 600 casualties later, on the second busiest day in the flower business, things got settled infamously at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

Schofield’s Flowers provided the funeral wreaths for all seven victims.

My dad even did a little time for being one of the biggest sports bookies in Chicago, but I was told he was away at flower school.

Schofield’s Flowers, one of the first FTD member florists, supplied all flowers for O’Banion’s funeral, the funeral flower wreaths for the victims of The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre, and for family patriarch Stephen Eugene Schofield, whose funeral was well attended by Chicago dignitaries like Mayor Daley, despite time spent in Sandstone Federal Penitentiary for “bookmaking”.

One hundred and twenty-one years after “Big Bill” Schofield first opened Schofield’s Flowers, his grandson Steve “Scof” Schofield is carrying forward the family brand, reimagining it for the 21st century.

SCHOFIELD'S FLOWERS TODAY

The new Schofield's Flowers is the reimagining of my families’ brand. This is a greenhouse lab that develops things I’ve seen and done. Schofield's Flowers will be a fertile garden of content properties based on the intriguing world of True Crime. Something my family has a little knowledge of.

The new Schofield's Flowers is the reimagining of my families’ brand. This is a greenhouse lab that develops things I’ve seen and done. Schofield's Flowers will be a fertile garden of content properties based on the intriguing world of True Crime. Something my family has a little knowledge of.

My family’s stories will be brought to life through a media company. Projects in development include a dramedy, a book of short stories, and a modern day speakeasy experience complete with prohibition era spirits.

"Congratulations! You’ve found my personal web page “Scof on Scof”.      Consider it “one-stop shopping” for all things Scof.  It’s my place to share what I’m doing now with the many friends I’ve made over the years                  in and out of the biz.

I was born in Chicago. It’s a place famous for a lot of things…in my case, growing up in my infamous family. The family business, Schofield’s Flowers, was the Florist to the Chicago Outfit.

I'm currently  in the film production world where I’ve got my live action      company : Modop Films, that excels in branded content, vr, post production and experiential events, a force to be reckoned with. Modop Films HQ’d here in Hollywood with a new outpost in New York City.
